TERRY’S FH12 IS BEST IN SHOW
Hartshorne is proud to sponsor the Best in Show award at the Shropshire Truck show – and doubly pleased that, this year, the prizes went to Terry Begley in a Volvo operated by rural suppliers, Countrywide . The FH12 460 – called Hogtrotter and emblazoned with an eye-catching airbrushed pig – is four years old with almost half a million km on the clock and, according to Terry, owes its victory to a pretty rigorous cleaning and maintenance programme.
“It gets lots of TLC,” says the delighted Terry, “plenty of washing and polishing whenever there’s free time. It’s basically a question of keeping on top of it from day one. Even out of show season we’ll was the truck two or three times a week and polish it once a fortnight.” When showtime’s in full swing, the pace gets positively gruelling. “At the Peterborough Truckfest, we were already at work on it by Friday evening, then we spent 18hours on Saturday and 15 of Sunday working on it – and not just the bits you can see!”
Hogtrotter is a genuine working truck, delivering to 46 stores and countless farms across the South, so how does Terry rate Volvo as business machines? “I love ‘em!” is the simple answer. “The I-Shift is second to none, there’s plenty of room and they’re tried and tested. They easy to drive, too – just less stress!”
Terry, the Hogtrotter and Volvo … winners all three!
