Brighton Coach Rally – its a winner for Dudley’s
Even though the roots of Dudley’s Coaches track back to as far as 1938, it took until this year for the Radford (nr Inkberrow), Worcestershire based coach operator to enter the Brighton Coach Rally. And what a debut!!
One of the company’s coaches - a Volvo B10M with Plaxton Excalibur body, first registered in January ’99 - took the Volvo Trophy for the top coach supplied by Volvo Coach Sales.
With 16 Volvos in the fleet that otherwise numbers 19, including a minibus, its fair to say that managing director Chris Dudley favours the Swedish marque. Also, the fact that he has only bought used coaches for the last 20years or more perhaps says more about the durability of Volvo coaches than any advert can.
Chris is quick to praise Hartshorne (Walsall). ‘They’re fantastically helpful,’ is how he puts it, ‘not only as the supplier of all our genuine parts but also for their flexibility in stepping up to the oche, sometimes at short notice, to handle service and repairs when in-house capacity is a bit pushed.’
If winning a coach award was not sufficient, driver Tony Clarke’s sartorial elegance impressed the judges to the point that he/Dudley’s left Brighton with a second, a special award – for the smartest uniformed driver and/or courier for a medium fleet – presented by Leisurewear Direct.
